WMC Market Manager Job Description

The Market Manager is a part-time, seasonal, hourly position with the responsibility of being the “go-to” person for vendors and customers during WMC Markets and is the Waccamaw Market Cooperative representative on-site. The Market Manager will be an employee of the Waccamaw Market Cooperative and report to the Executive Director.
The WMC Market Manager is responsible for on-site operations of WMC markets through December 19, 2023. This position can extend into 2024 based on performance. Market Managers are required to arrive one (1) or two (2) hours before opening time of the market (depending on the market location), work the duration of the market, and remain on-site until the last vendor is gone.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in local agriculture, food, and community. Must be reliable, friendly, self-motivated, have access to a vehicle and have the ability to get supplies to the market each operating day.

General Requirements
• Willing and able to work outdoors, rain or shine
• Safety lift and carry 50 pounds
• Be on-site at the market and available to vendors and consumers; regularly engaging with each
• Take photos of each market for social media
• Maintain accurate daily records and collect vendor fees; deliver to WMC office weekly
• Be liaison between Executive Director and market vendors as needed
• Disperse applicable vendor documentation
• Enforce market rules and guidelines
• Assist with vendor set up and brief personal breaks as needed
• Set up and operate WMC booth where applicable: answer questions, hand out educational material, and sell promotional items
• Assist any cooking demonstrations, educational programming, music or other cultural activities and special events at the Market

Hours (immediate through December 19)
• Each Tuesday: 8am to 3pm in Surfside Beach
• Each Friday: 8am to 3pm in North Myrtle Beach
• Each Saturday: 8am to 3pm in Market Common
• Wednesday, November 8: 7am to 3pm on CCU Campus
• Sunday, November 26: 10am to 5pm in Pawleys Island
• Tuesday, November 28: as soon as Surfside market ends to 9:30pm on CCU campus
• *plus drive time to and from each market, and to WMC office
• *hours/dates subject to change

Pay
• $15 per hour
• $40 monthly cell phone stipend
• Paid mileage to and from markets in personal vehicle (federal rate)
• Biweekly pay
